Winter Bridal - Styled Session

Oh, be still my beating heart the styled shoot! It’s something extremely important when you are in a wedding related business. For me, I enjoy doing styled sessions because they push me to explore, experiment and have the creative freedom to produce my best work. I mean, look at how gorgeous the salon, model, flowers, ALPACAS and wedding dress are!!! They are just not the norm. It takes a village of collaborators to pull something like this off. Make sure you read each vendors explanation of their creative process for the shoot. And if you see something you can not live without, each vendors contact info can be found at the bottom of this post. <3 Megan Gulino

Salon Elizabeth Lizzy Dugan: It started with the thought of a shoot for bridal beauty at Salon Elizabeth using alpacas. Brides with alpacas. Something fresh in the Buffalo bridal industry.

Our log and rock piles around the salon have been a huge request for our brides to be photographed. Why not mix it all together.

My first contact was Jeanne from Thistle Creek Alpacas. I met Jeanne and Brad. A few years back when moving to Elma.  She was on board form the get go.

After dreaming  of the alpacas and a bride I could completely style with my vision  the wheels started turning. Rich  tones with smokey pallettes along with texture.

The vibe was thought to be moody and rich. A mix on rustic and glam. No burlap or mason jars  but instead crystal and sparking polished boulders… and glamours shaped  logs if that makes sense?

It was all coming together. A winter feel was a must. Alpaca fur hairs, fiber wraps and fingerless gloves. Flowers were to be draping with jewel and smokey tones with an editorial look with some peaking out of the logs for our  backdrop,  I couldn’t have asked for any thing more fabulous than what Cheryl created.

Makeup and hair design was something I didn’t want to see in everyday bridal styling.

Deep ridged finger waves and plum dramatic makeup with creamy skin were the beauty goals for me to create for the shoot.

I’ve always been fascinated by Rebecca from Quaints luxurious velvet sofas. She must for our day and so glad she was able too be with us!

The dress was visioned  to be sleek, texture and fitted with some type of sleeve. Macarr nailed it l. After sending a few inspiring photos I arrived and erin showed us options. I was eyeballing my pick to the side hoping it was on of the options and it was….. and fit our model Holly like a glove!

Why Holly as the model? We met years ago and she always stuck out in my mind for her personality and style. The way she carries herself in front of the camera and is fun to be with on a shoot!

Jewelry was to go hand and hand with our natural scapes, especially  the rockscapes  and boulder pedestals and tables.

Bold , chunky and statement were all on the vision for the jewels. Vania of Vania and David were a perfect fit! All hand made by Vania herself, her statement pieces for our shoot were epic!

Photography….. ahhhh, where else would we be without the photos! Megan and I met a few years ago as she has become  a salon client and we would Talk about the love of each others work during her apts and how it would be fun to collaborate sometime….I knew I wanted her to shoot this. The moody richness was the photography feel and it was everything plus more with her!

Cupcakes anyone? We needed a little dessert, Karina of Filled With Love supplied us with the most glamorous cupcakes for the shoot filled with Nutella and a topped off with buttercream almond frosting with gold flakes and pearls .

Detailed nails were envisioned as well. A stone color and gold details created by Jodi were perfection!

Flowers By Nature’s Cheryl Gicewicz : I was inspired instantly by the selection of items & location of this shoot by Liz Dugan . The dress, the jewelry , the snow, the woodpile , the lush velvet couch . Not to mention the fabulous model, & the alpacas of course! I knew the florals needed to be rich in color, textural, feminine , rustic, yet romantic & elegant. I loved working with this amazing group of talented women, each passionate about their role in this day. Their energy was infectious & inspiring . Model Holliann Schrantz : “I froze my butt off and got some kick ass shots” hnschrantz@gmail.com

Quaint’s Rebecca Duda : With it being a more jewel toned inspired shoot, I thought my popular Quinn emerald sofa would be a perfect fit. The mis-matched colored goblets and candelabras also worked with the theme to help add some more color and glam to the space. The juxtaposition of indoor pieces, placed outdoors in a unique setting, helps to really create that wow factor. Contact us for your one of a kind rentals needs!
