Fashion, Props & Accessories

what should I wear to my photo session?

It is important to us that you remain the focus of your photos, not your clothing! It is best to stick to solid colors and if you chose to add a print or pattern, designate one person to wear the print that coordinates with your group. Generally we advise you choose 1-3 colors that complement each other well for example: tan, olive green and denim. BE YOURSELF! We want you to feel natural, comfortable and relaxed to ensure the photographs resonate with your personalities.

Are animals allowed at our photo session?

Yes! We welcome and encourage your pets to join in your shoot! Animals are family members too and they are welcome both in the studio and on location! (Please inquire into specific location rules if it is somewhere we are unfamiliar with regarding this question.)


Do you provide props?

We do have a few props and accessories that can be used in studio or on certain locations. However, for the most part, we prefer to keep the images clean and simple which is a way for us to stick to our roots and stay true to who we are as a brand. We are totally open to clients bringing in specific props they would like used for a session and we will do our best to incorporate it into your shoot!

 

Location, Location, Location!

How far do you travel for a session?

We will travel up to an hour (60 miles) outside of the Buffalo area. We are more than willing to venture out further and appropriate travel rates (per mile) will apply. Please inquire for more detail.

 


Do you offer Destination wedding coverage?

We absolutely offer destination wedding coverage and it is in fact one of our very favorite options! Shooting your wedding in a new location is such a treat artistically for us as photographers. We require a three night stay in the hotel or resort where the wedding is taking place as well as airfare. Please take a moment to check out some of the amazing locations we have had the pleasure of photographing!


Where can I have my session?

Your location options are almost endless! We can hold your session in our studio, your home or on location! We have a number of setting recommendations but if you have somewhere specific in mind, just let us know! Please note that if a location requires a deposit or contract, you are responsible for making arrangements and covering all fees involved. Please also take a moment to look at our information on this page regarding travel and fees based on distance of location.

 

Timing is Everything...

What happens if the weather is bad on the day of my session?

Let’s be honest, we live in Buffalo and this is a legitimate concern with an easy solution: just reschedule! We will send you the soonest available dates to reschedule your session. We also like to take into account what our clients wishes are because if you don’t mind a little snow, rain or clouds, sometimes they make for the very best images!


How long does it take to see my images after the session?

As a general rule, expect at least two weeks from your session before you will receive your image gallery. Your photographer will be able to give you a better idea of a time frame once you have completed your shoot.


How far in advance should I book my session?)

We recommended booking your session at least three months prior to your desired date. This allows for a greater chance of availability so we can accommodate all of your photography needs.

 

Baby Love

Do you offer “Fresh 48”?

Fresh 48 is a unique session that documents very special moments of your baby’s first two days of life. This session does not document your baby’s birth but does capture the first 48 hours after their birth whether it is in your home, or in a hospital setting. This is a lifestyle session that will strive to celebrate parents and families interaction and care for the newborn, including all the fresh excitement and love involved in welcoming a new member to your family. This is a Moonshine favorite and we recommend the Fresh 48 session for anyone who feels that the traditional newborn session isn’t quite right for them.


Do you offer birth coverage?

At Moonshine, we believe that your baby’s birth is one of the most beautiful, important and empowering events in your life. Through photographs we capture this incredible occasion. From the small moments to the big, we love documenting baby’s birth day!


When should I book my newborn session?

Our space is limited and once the time slots are filled, we cannot accommodate anymore newborn sessions. It is recommended that you book your newborn sessions 3-4 months in advance! These sessions are booked based on baby’s due date and once baby arrives we set and confirm the date and time.

 

Legal & Logistics

Do I own photos?

All of our wedding packages include the high resolution files on a USB, along with a printing release.  Portrait sessions come with an option to purchase the files. While the copyright ownership remains with Moonshine Studio of Photography, you are welcome to print and share your images. Images may not be used for commercial or editorial purposes without written consent from Moonshine Studio of Photography. We ask that you do not alter, edit or change images which include, but are not limited to photo editing apps and filters such as Instagram.

How to order an album?

If an album is included with your wedding package, we will provide you with both the image sheet and order form when you come in to pick up your USB. If an album is not included in your package of choice, don’t worry! We offer albums a la carte as well. Simply download the order form from the link below. Once you have picked out your images please contact Megan or Katie to set up an appointment and place your order.

Do you offer mini sessions?

We offer mini sessions randomly throughout the year based on availability in our schedule. Follow us on Facebook and Instagram to be in the loop and the first to know when we are holding mini sessions!


How do I book a session?

Please contact us through the inquiry section of this site to get the ball rolling. No deposit is required and we look forward to hearing from you!


If we order images, how do we get them and how do we pay?

Following your session, you will receive an image gallery from which you can decide what images you want to order. Once an order is placed you will receive an invoice from us that can be paid online or in person.

There are two options for receiving your digital images:

A: We can package together a loaded USB with the release which you can pick up from our office. Payment is due at or prior to pick up or can be made online; we will send you an invoice via email.  

B: We can send you a digital download link. Upon request we will send you an invoice via email through which you can make your payment and then receive your download link.
